Thursday, the United States Air Force Thunderbirds screamed into Lake City, Florida for the 2016 Gateway to Florida Air Show.
Its been 12 years since the Thunderbirds last visited Lake City, Florida, and the team made sure that the city knew they were back in town. Thursday afternoon, the famous Thunderbird Delta went smoke on over the Lake City Gateway Airport, site of this weekend's show. The pilots completed a site survey in which they point out various landmarks surrounding the city to use as markers and checkpoints during this weekend's demonstrations.
Friday, the team is set to take to the skies for one final practice demonstration before performing for the Lake City crowd Saturday and Sunday. The gates open at 9:00 am both Saturday and Sunday, with flying beginning just after 11:00 am. The Thunderbirds are the featured performers for the weekend and will wrap up the show at 3:30 on both days.
