The United States Air Force Thunderbirds are in Orlando this week for their final show of the 2020 season, the Lockheed Martin Space & Air Show. Thursday morning, the team will make their first appearances in the skies of Orlando with a flyover of the Walt Disney World Resort and a site survey over the Orlando Sanford International Airport, weather permitting.

The flyover is part of a tribute video honoring fallen military heroes, and will mark the arrival of National Veterans and Military Families Month, which takes place the month of November. The footage from the flyover will be included in the Gary Sinise Foundation’s virtual Snowball Express Conference, set to take place in December. The conference helps the children of fallen military heroes, their surviving parents and guardians, and Gold Star families.

The team is expected to takeoff from Orlando Sanford International Airport at 9:15 AM with the flyover taking place at 9:30 AM. They’ll then return to Orlando Sanford International Airport for a site survey around 9:45 AM. However, this is subject to change due to weather. This weekend’s show is the Thunderbirds’ sixth and final show of the 2020 season, and then they’ll head back to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada to begin training for the 2021 show season. Due to COVID forcing the cancellation of the majority of the season, all pilots will retain their roles for the 2021 show season.
