Naval Air Station Jacksonville announced this morning that their 2021 air show has been cancelled. NAS Jacksonville released the following message:

“After careful consideration, Naval Air Station Jacksonville (NAS JAX) leadership has decided to cancel the NAS Jax Air Show 2021 set to take place April 10-11.

Department of Defense Health Protection Conditions, as well as guidelines imposed by the Centers for Disease Control, and local civilian authorities, currently prevent execution of the air show.

We look forward to welcoming the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Team, The Blue Angels back to Jacksonville in the future.”

This year’s NAS Jacksonville Air Show was scheduled to be the public debut of the Blue Angels’ new F/A-18 Super Hornets. The Blue Angels delayed the start of their 2021 season to allow for more time to transition to the Super Hornet and had planned to kick off their 75th anniversary season in Jacksonville instead of their usual first show at NAF El Centro.

With the cancellation of the NAS Jacksonville Air Show, the Blue Angels are now scheduled to kick off the 2021 show season April 17-18 at SUN ‘n FUN in Lakeland, Florida. They do plan to participate in a virtual Festival of Flight hosted by NAF El Centro on March 13, but the event will be all virtual.
