U.S. Military Cancels All Air Show Appearances for Second Straight Weekend

The U.S. Government shutdown has now entered its second week, as the U.S. Senate failed to agree yet again on an appropriation of funds Wednesday.

With the shutdown continuing through at least Thursday, all U.S. Military performs and static displays have notified air show organizers that they will not be able to participate again this weekend.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels were scheduled to appear at San Francisco Fleet Week, the last of three consecutive west coast stops. Last week, the Blue Angels cancelled their appearance at the California International Airshow and returned home to Pensacola, Florida. The team has been spotted practicing this week over NAS Pensacola.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds were scheduled to appear at the Air Dot Show Atlanta in Peachtree City, Georgia. Furthermore, the U.S. Air Force’s F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team was scheduled to appear at San Francisco Fleet Week, and the F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team was scheduled to perform at the Hammond Northshore Regional Airshow in Hammond, Louisiana.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will headline San Francisco Fleet Week this weekend, with top civilian performers still scheduled to perform at air shows across the country.
